Yesterday, hubby and I went to the farmers market. We have one close to us that is open all year round but I don't usually go in the winter because it's outdoors. We have had beautiful weather so I thought we would check it out and see what was there. There were not as many vendors there as there is in the summer but we got some great deals.
5# potatoes $2
3# carrots $1
2 red peppers $.66
1 garlic $.34
If you live in New York, this website is great to find a farmers market near you. I barely shop at the store during the summer because I can get everything so much cheaper:)

I LOVE farmer's markets!! We are so lucky to have them year round here, it's so much fun to wake up early on a Saturday morning to go check out the good deals. And you're right - it's so much cheaper and the food tastes 100% better too!
